Journal's AI Policy

Policy on the Use of Generative AI and AI-Assisted Technologies

Profesi Pendidikan Dasar (PPD) upholds the principles of transparency, ethical authorship, and academic rigor. This policy establishes guidelines for authors, reviewers, editors, and readers regarding the ethical integration of generative artificial intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted tools in manuscript preparation. The policy will undergo periodic review to align with advancements in technology and evolving scholarly standards.

Scope of Policy

This document specifically governs the application of AI in the writing process and excludes AI-based methodologies employed for data analysis or interpretation within research frameworks. Authors may employ generative AI and AI-assisted technologies solely to improve linguistic clarity, grammatical accuracy, and readability. However, such tools must not supplant core academic responsibilities, including formulating research questions, constructing pedagogical or theoretical arguments, analyzing findings, or deriving scholarly conclusions.

Permissible Applications

  • Language Enhancement: Identifying and correcting grammatical or syntactical errors, improving textual fluency, and refining stylistic coherence.
  • Citation Management: Formatting references per specified citation styles (e.g., APA, MLA) and generating accurate bibliographic entries.
  • Plagiarism Detection: Utilizing AI-powered software to screen manuscripts for unintentional duplication and ensure adherence to originality standards.
  • Data Visualization: Processing complex datasets and generating visual representations (e.g., charts, graphs) to enhance the clarity and interpretability of findings.

Prohibited Uses

  • Content Generation: AI tools must not draft primary manuscript sections (e.g., introduction, methodology, results, discussion).
  • Data Manipulation: Fabrication, falsification, or artificial generation of data, results, or figures via AI.
  • Authorship Attribution: Generative AI systems may not be listed as authors, co-authors, or contributors.
  • Image Alteration: AI-driven manipulation or generation of images, diagrams, or visual elements in submissions.

Ethical Obligations

Authors must ensure that AI-assisted contributions comply with copyright laws, avoid plagiarism, and refrain from misrepresenting intellectual ownership. Unauthorized use of proprietary content, biased outputs, or deceptive practices (e.g., obfuscating AI-generated text as human-authored) constitutes breaches of academic integrity.
