Authors are required to carefully review the following policies and requirements prior to submission. Compliance with these standards is essential to ensure ethical integrity, transparency, and consistency with international publishing practices.
Failure to adhere to these requirements may result in administrative rejection prior to peer review.
1.1 Ethical Standards and Research Integrity
All submissions to Advanced Drug Sciences (ADS) must comply with internationally recognized standards of research integrity and publication ethics, including those outlined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Authors are required to ensure that:
- The work is original and has not been fabricated, falsified, or manipulated
- All data are presented accurately and transparently
- Proper acknowledgment is given to prior work through appropriate citation
- The manuscript does not contain plagiarized or substantially overlapping content
The journal employs similarity detection systems to evaluate originality. Manuscripts exhibiting significant overlap, redundant publication, or unethical practices will be rejected without peer review.
Confirmed cases of misconduct may result in:
- Rejection or retraction of the manuscript
- Notification to the authors’ affiliated institutions
- Restrictions on future submissions
1.2 Studies Involving Human Participants
Research involving human participants must be conducted in accordance with recognized ethical standards, including the Declaration of Helsinki.
Authors must provide a clear statement in the manuscript confirming that:
- Ethical approval was obtained from a recognized institutional review board or ethics committee
- The approval reference number and date are specified
- The study complies with applicable national and institutional regulations
Additionally, authors must confirm that:
- Informed consent was obtained from all participants prior to inclusion in the study
- Participants’ privacy and confidentiality have been strictly protected
Manuscripts lacking appropriate ethical approval or consent documentation will not be considered for publication.
1.3 Studies Involving Animals
All research involving animals must adhere to established ethical guidelines and regulatory standards governing animal experimentation.
Authors must explicitly state that:
- The study was approved by an appropriate institutional or national ethics committee
- The research complies with relevant animal welfare regulations
- All efforts were made to minimize suffering and reduce the number of animals used
Authors are expected to follow recognized reporting standards such as ARRIVE guidelines where applicable.
Failure to demonstrate ethical compliance will result in rejection of the manuscript.
1.4 Informed Consent and Patient Data
For studies involving human participants, patients, or identifiable personal data:
- Written informed consent must be obtained prior to participation
- Consent must cover publication of clinical details, images, or personal data where applicable
- Identifiable information must be removed unless explicit permission has been granted
Authors must retain all consent documentation and provide it upon request by the editorial office.
The inclusion of identifiable patient information without appropriate consent constitutes a violation of ethical standards and will result in immediate rejection.
1.5 Declaration of Competing Interests
All authors must disclose any financial, professional, or personal relationships that could influence or bias the work.
Authors are required to:
- Declare all relevant competing interests at the time of submission
- Include a dedicated “Conflict of Interest” statement within the manuscript
Examples of competing interests include, but are not limited to:
- Employment or consultancy
- Research funding or grants
- Stock ownership or intellectual property interests
- Honoraria or paid expert testimony
If no competing interests exist, authors must state:
“The authors declare no competing interests.”
Failure to disclose relevant conflicts may result in rejection, correction, or retraction.
1.6 Use of Artificial Intelligence in Scientific Writing
The use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted technologies in manuscript preparation is subject to strict limitations.
Authors may use such tools only for:
- Improving language clarity
- Enhancing readability
Authors must not use AI tools for:
- Generating scientific content, interpretation, or conclusions
- Data analysis or result generation
- Authorship attribution
If AI tools are used, authors must include a disclosure statement in the manuscript specifying:
- The name of the tool
- The purpose of its use
AI tools cannot be listed as authors under any circumstances.
Authors retain full responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, and originality of the manuscript.
1.7 Submission Declaration and Originality
Submission of a manuscript to ADS constitutes confirmation that:
- The work has not been previously published in any form, except as a preprint, thesis, or abstract
- The manuscript is not under consideration by another journal
- All authors have approved the submission
- The work complies with institutional and regulatory requirements
The journal reserves the right to verify originality using similarity-checking tools.
Duplicate submission or concurrent submission to multiple journals is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate rejection.
1.8 Preprint Policy
ADS permits submission of manuscripts that have been previously posted on recognized preprint servers.
Authors must:
- Disclose the existence of a preprint at the time of submission
- Provide the DOI or link to the preprint version
Preprints are not considered prior publication.
However, authors must ensure that:
- The submitted manuscript reflects the version intended for peer review
- The preprint is not updated to include peer-reviewed content prior to formal publication
1.9 Inclusive Language and Scientific Neutrality
Authors must ensure that manuscripts are written using inclusive, respectful, and unbiased language.
Manuscripts should:
- Avoid discriminatory or stereotypical expressions
- Use terminology that is scientifically accurate and culturally appropriate
- Refrain from unnecessary reference to personal attributes such as gender, ethnicity, or age unless scientifically relevant
The use of biased or inappropriate language may result in revision requests prior to peer review.
1.10 Sex- and Gender-Based Reporting
For research involving humans, animals, or biological systems, authors must:
- Clearly define and distinguish between sex and gender where applicable
- Describe how sex and/or gender variables were considered in study design and analysis
- Report findings disaggregated by sex or gender where relevant
If such analysis is not conducted, authors must provide a justification and discuss this as a limitation.
Accurate reporting of sex and gender enhances the reproducibility and applicability of research findings.
1.11 Changes to Authorship
Authorship must be determined prior to initial submission and must accurately reflect the contributions of all individuals involved in the work.
Authors are required to:
- Provide the complete and final list of authors at the time of submission
- Ensure that all listed authors meet the authorship criteria defined by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE).
- Confirm that all authors have reviewed and approved the submitted version of the manuscript
Any request to modify the authorship (including addition, removal, or rearrangement of author names) must be submitted before the manuscript is formally accepted.
Such requests must include:
- A clear and detailed justification for the proposed change
- Written confirmation (email or formal letter) from all listed authors, including any author being added or removed, indicating agreement with the change
Post-acceptance changes to authorship are not permitted under any circumstances.
Requests submitted after acceptance will not be considered, except in cases of demonstrable editorial or administrative error.
1.12 Copyright, Licensing, and Permissions
Advanced Drug Sciences (ADS) is an open access journal. Authors retain copyright of their published work.
Upon acceptance of a manuscript:
- Authors will be required to agree to the journal’s licensing terms
- Articles will be published under an open access license that permits distribution and reuse in accordance with the selected license conditions
1.12.1 Use of Third-Party Material
If the manuscript includes any material that is not original to the authors (including but not limited to figures, tables, images, graphical elements, or substantial text excerpts), authors must:
- Obtain written permission from the original copyright holder prior to submission
- Ensure that the permission covers reuse in an open access publication
- Provide appropriate attribution within the manuscript
Authors must upload all permission documents during submission or upon request by the editorial office.
Failure to provide valid permissions may result in:
- Delay in publication
- Removal of the material
- Rejection of the manuscript, where necessary
1.13 Funding Disclosure
Authors must disclose all sources of financial support related to the research described in the manuscript.
The funding statement must:
