Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

The journal seeks original papers that contribute significantly to knowledge in any of the various disciplines of social studies. Early in the paper, the author should describe clearly and precisely the issue addressed, and explain why the paper is considered a significant contribution to the literature on its subject. Manuscripts that seem suitable for consideration are sent to two or more reviewers, who are asked to give priority in their assessments to the following acceptance criteria:

  1. Interest to a significant proportion of the Journal’s readership.
  2. An original contribution of scholarly or policy significance.
  3. Shows adequate familiarity with relevant literature.
  4. Data, methods, and design are appropriate to objectives.
  5. Conclusions are convincingly justified.
  6. Structure, length, and quality of writing are satisfactory.

If the editors consider that a paper does not adequately satisfy these criteria, it may be declined without being sent to reviewers.

Editorial requirements

The papers collected must be in accordance with the writing guidelines in Jurnal Pendidikan Ilmu Sosial (JPIS). The length of papers at least 3,000 words consisting of introduction, research method, results and discussion, and conclusion. A signed Copyright Transfer Agreement (CTA) should accompany the manuscripts submitted by online through online submission interface (upload as supplementary files). Download the CTA form here

  3. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  4. All people whose names are written as authors agree with the submission process and agree to transfer the copyright of the article content to the publisher once the editors decide to accept the submission for publication.
