Peer Review Process

Jurnal Penelitian Humaniora is an internationally distributed publication managed by Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta. The research article submitted to this online journal will undergo a double-blind peer review process, ensuring that the identities of both the reviewer and the author are kept confidential from each other. Once research articles have received approval, they will be made available online following the completion of the journal's peer-review procedure. This journal is written in English.

The Jurnal Penelitian Humaniora editors will perform a comprehensive analysis of the manuscript's title, abstract, and body content to identify any instances of plagiarism. This process will entail both manual screening using offline and online databases, as well as the application of sophisticated plagiarism detection technology and AI detectors. In the event that any indication of plagiarism is identified, the editorial board will expeditiously decline the contribution. The review process is as follows.

  1. Manuscript Receipt: The editor obtains the manuscript from the author and subsequently sends an email to the author to confirm its receipt.
  2. Initial Assessment: The editor conducts an initial assessment and plagiarism screening of the article within one week. This assessment involves evaluating the paper's alignment with the journal's aims and scope, conformity to the journal's style requirements, and the inclusion of any additional supporting data. Any manuscripts that do not match these conditions will be rejected. The editor performs a manual plagiarism assessment by utilizing both offline and internet databases. Submissions that contain substantial plagiarism or extensive utilization of artificial intelligence are not accepted. If there are instances of minor plagiarism or repetition, the author is asked to provide clarification.
  3. Double-blind Review: The editor forwards the manuscript and a review form to the reviewer, following a double-blind review process, in which the identities of both the reviewer and the author are kept anonymous.
  4. Review Process: The reviewer fills out the review form and submits it to the editor, along with any necessary revisions to the text.
  5. Editorial Decision: The editor reaches a conclusion: either declining the submission, requiring significant changes, needing minor revisions, or accepting it.
  6. Author Notification: The author is notified about the initial decision on their articles within a month. The typical duration for the submission-to-publication procedure is approximately 3 to 4 months.
  7. Revision Process: The author is required to swiftly submit the revised manuscript. Submissions that are returned after a period of more than three months are classified as new submissions.
