Rambu Solo is known as the ultimate form of respect for the deceased parents in Toraja’s culture. However, how this ceremony is viewed from the perspective of the deceased’s family responsible for carrying out the Rambu Solo, whether it is considered a source of pride or a burden, could be varied. This research aims to analyze the values contained within the Rambu Solo ceremony through the novel 'Puya ke Puya' and the perspectives of the characters within it. Sigmund Freud's psychoanalytic theories, including the concept of the ego, were used to analyze this novel. Freud's theories delve into the depths of the human psyche, exploring how unconscious desires, conflicts, and defense mechanisms shape human behavior and, by extension, the characters and their motivations in this novel. The research method used is qualitative descriptive. The research findings and observations will be elaborated and analyzed in the discussion chapter, as well as explained through a review of relevant literature related to this research. The background of this research is related to the storyline in the novel 'Puya ke Puya,' which depicts the perception of the Toraja community in the village of Kete' in conducting the Rambu Solo ceremony.
