Generative AI Policy
Jurnal Penelitian Sains Teknologi recognizes the increasing use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools (such as large language models, AI-assisted writing tools, or code-generation systems) in the research and writing process. This policy is established to ensure transparency, accountability, and academic integrity in the use of such technologies.
1. Permitted Use of Generative AI
Authors may use generative AI tools to support their research and manuscript preparation for purposes such as:
-
Language editing and grammar improvement
-
Improving clarity and readability of the text
-
Code assistance or debugging (with proper validation)
-
Data visualization or formatting support
The use of generative AI must not replace critical scientific thinking, original analysis, or scholarly interpretation by the authors.
2. Prohibited Use of Generative AI
Generative AI tools must not be used to:
-
Generate original research data, experimental results, or empirical findings
-
Fabricate or manipulate data, images, or results
-
Generate substantial portions of the manuscript without author oversight
-
Replace authorship responsibilities or be listed as an author
Generative AI tools cannot be credited as authors, as they do not meet authorship criteria related to accountability and intellectual responsibility.
3. Disclosure Requirement
Authors must clearly disclose the use of generative AI tools in their manuscript. Disclosure should include:
-
The name of the AI tool(s) used
-
The purpose of use (e.g., language editing, code assistance)
This disclosure should be placed in the Acknowledgements section or a dedicated AI Usage Statement, if applicable.
4. Author Responsibility and Accountability
Authors remain fully responsible for:
-
The accuracy, originality, and integrity of the content
-
Proper citation of all sources
-
Ensuring that AI-assisted content does not introduce plagiarism, bias, or misinformation
The use of generative AI does not exempt authors from compliance with the journal’s Publication Ethics and Plagiarism Policy.
5. Use of Generative AI in Peer Review and Editorial Process
Editors and reviewers may use generative AI tools only for administrative or language-support purposes. Manuscripts under review must not be uploaded to generative AI platforms that compromise confidentiality or data security.
6. Policy Compliance
Failure to disclose the use of generative AI or misuse of AI tools may result in:
-
Manuscript rejection
-
Request for clarification or revision
-
Retraction of published articles in cases of serious violation
