About the Journal
QiST: Journal of Quran and Tafseer Studies is a peer-reviewed academic journal dedicated to advancing the scholarly discourse on the Qur'an and its exegesis (tafsir). The uniqueness of QiST lies in its emphasis on contextual and localized interpretations of the Qur'an, especially within the rich and diverse Islamic intellectual traditions of Southeast Asia. The journal encourages interdisciplinary and cross-cultural analyses of tafsir to foster meaningful dialogue between sacred texts and contemporary realities. Moreover, QiST prioritizes manuscript-based tafsir research and the advancement of Quranic studies through the use of digital archives, thereby expanding access to classical sources and enabling new methodological explorations.
The Journal is Published tri-annually in April, August, and December by Program Studi Ilmu Al-Qur'an dan Tafsir, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta.
