Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

Manuscripts submitted to IELTech must be original work that has not been published elsewhere. The manuscript must be written in proper, standard English. The primary structure of the manuscript must follow the IMRaD format (Introduction, Method, Results and Discussion, Conclusion).

1. Layout Format

  • Front Matter (Title, Authors, Abstract): Utilize a single-column format to provide a clean, modern, and readable introduction to the paper.

  • Main Body (Introduction through References): Utilize a single-column format to maximize reading efficiency, aligning with established standards for engineering and informatics journals.

  • Typography: Use Sans-serif fonts (e.g., Arial, Helvetica, or Lato) for the Article Title and Subheadings to provide a modern, technological feel. Use Serif fonts (e.g., Times New Roman or Cambria) for the body text to reduce eye strain during extended reading.

2. Manuscript Components

Article Title

The title must be concise, informative, and specifically describe the research content. Avoid uncommon abbreviations. The title should not exceed 15 words.

Abstract

The abstract is the "storefront" of your article. Write it as a single, continuous paragraph (unstructured abstract) ranging from 150 to 300 words. The abstract must not contain literature citations, tables, or mathematical equations. It must sequentially include the following elements:

  1. Brief Background: The main context or problem statement of the research (1-2 sentences).

  2. Research Objective: What the study aims to achieve or solve.

  3. Methodology: The core approach, participant demographics (if applicable), and data analysis methods (e.g., experimental design, Design and Development Research).

  4. Key Findings: The most significant outcomes or main statistical values.

  5. Conclusion/Implications: The broader impact of the findings on the fields of informatics or educational technology.

Keywords

Provide 3 to 5 specific keywords, separated by commas. Use standard terminology within the related discipline to optimize academic Search Engine Optimization (SEO).

1. Introduction

The introduction should provide clear context without summarizing the entire body of literature. Avoid using subheadings within this section. It must explicitly include:

  • State of the Art: The background of the problem, supported by recent literature (ideally from the last 5 years).

  • Research Gap: The specific gap between previous studies and your current research. Authors must explicitly articulate what remains unresolved by prior work.

  • Objectives and Contributions: A clear, definitive statement regarding the research objectives and its scientific contribution, typically placed at the end of the introduction.

2. Method (or Methodology)

This section must be written with sufficient detail to ensure the study is fully reproducible by other researchers.

  • Detail the research design, participants (demographics, sampling techniques), research instruments, and data collection procedures.

  • If the research involves software, application, or game development, clearly specify the architecture and tools utilized. The use of free-license or open-source development tools and databases is highly encouraged and should be noted.

  • Ethical Clearance: If the research involves human subjects, authors must explicitly state that informed consent was obtained from all participants prior to data collection.

3. Results and Discussion

These sections can be combined or separated depending on the flow of the narrative.

  • Results: Present the data objectively and logically. Use Tables and Figures effectively to summarize complex data; do not repeat data verbatim in the text that is already visible in a table.

  • Discussion: This is the most critical section of the manuscript. Do not merely restate the results; interpret them. Explain the underlying reasons for your findings. Critically compare and contrast your results with prior literature. Articulate the theoretical and practical implications of these findings for learning technologies.

4. Conclusion

The conclusion must not be a mere summary or a copy of the abstract.

  • Directly address the research objectives or testable hypotheses.

  • Honestly outline the limitations of the research (e.g., sample size constraints, specific technical limitations, or lack of a control group).

  • Provide specific, actionable recommendations (future work) for subsequent research in the field.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy

In alignment with COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) standards and top-tier global publishers, IELTech enforces strict guidelines regarding the use of Generative AI (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini):

  1. AI is Not an Author: AI tools do not meet the criteria for authorship and must not be listed as an author or co-author under any circumstances.

  2. Usage Limits: The use of AI is strictly limited to improving language readability (polishing, translation assistance, and proofreading). AI is strictly prohibited from being used to formulate main scientific ideas, interpret data, or draw academic conclusions.

  3. Declaration of AI Use: If authors utilize AI tools in the writing process, they must include a section titled "Declaration of Generative AI and AI-assisted technologies in the writing process" immediately preceding the References section. Authors assume full responsibility and accountability for the accuracy, integrity, and originality of the entire manuscript.

Citation and Reference Format

  • Citation Style: IELTech adheres to the APA Style (American Psychological Association) 7th Edition format.

  • Reference Manager: Authors must utilize reference management software to ensure metadata consistency and formatting accuracy. Open-source options (like Zotero) or standard tools (like Mendeley) are strongly recommended.

  • Reference Quality:

    • A minimum of 80% of the reference list must consist of primary literature (peer-reviewed international scientific journals).

    • References should predominantly consist of recent literature published within the last 10 years.

    • Any reference possessing a DOI (Digital Object Identifier) must explicitly include the active DOI link at the end of the citation entry.
