Peer Review Process

JEP:KMEP is a peer-reviewed journal. Each manuscript is evaluated by at least two independent reviewers. The editor decides on publication, amendment, or rejection based on their recommendations. If deemed unsuitable, a decision statement is sent within three months of submission.

Revision

Authors are required to submit the revised version of their manuscript within two months, including:

  1. A clean manuscript (with no track changes).
  2. A version showing revisions (with track changes or highlights).
  3. A point-by-point response to reviewers’ comments.

Late resubmissions are treated as new submissions.

Editor's Decision

The outcome of the review process is communicated to authors through one of several editorial decisions. Below, we explain what each decision means and what authors can expect after receiving it.

  1. Accepted for Publication. This decision means the paper has successfully passed peer review and meets the journal's standards for quality, originality, and contribution to the field. Minor formatting or stylistic adjustments may still be required during the production process, but no further scientific revisions are necessary. The manuscript will now proceed to copyediting and publication.
  2. Revisions Required. This means that while the reviewers and editors see promise in your work, certain changes are necessary before it can be considered for publication. Revisions may be categorized as either minor (e.g., clarifying details, correcting formatting, improving language) or major (e.g., reworking analysis, restructuring content, addressing conceptual concerns). You are invited to revise your manuscript and submit a response letter that explains how you have addressed each reviewer comment. Once resubmitted, your manuscript may be accepted directly or sent for further review.
  3. Resubmit for Review. While your paper is not accepted in its current form, the editors recognize its potential and are open to reconsidering a significantly revised version. This decision is made when major improvements are needed—such as strengthening the theoretical framework, refining the methodology, expanding the analysis, or clarifying the contribution to the field. Should you choose to revise and resubmit, the new version will be treated as a new submission and undergo a full peer review process. There is no guarantee of eventual acceptance.
  4. Reject. After careful review, the editors have determined that the submission is not suitable for publication in this journal. This may be due to a range of factors, including misalignment with the journal’s aims and scope, significant methodological concerns, or insufficient contribution to current scholarly discussions. We appreciate the opportunity to consider your work and encourage you to review the feedback provided, which may be helpful in revising the paper for submission to a different journal.
