Key Sociocultural Determinants of Fathers’ Involvement in Adolescent Parenting

This study aimed to identify the dominant sociocultural factors associated with paternal involvement in adolescent parenting in Kudus Regency. A cross-sectional design with correlation analysis and binary logistic regression was employed. The study sample consisted of 332 high school students selected using purposive sampling. Independent variables included religion, ethnicity, application of Javanese cultural values, and patriarchal family culture, while the dependent variable was the level of paternal involvement. The results indicated that the application of Javanese cultural values in parenting was the dominant sociocultural factor positively influencing father involvement (OR = 8.165, p < 0.05). Religion had a negative effect on paternal involvement (OR = 0.162, p < 0.05), whereas ethnicity and patriarchal culture showed no significant influence. The study highlights the importance of considering cultural context to enhance father engagement in parenting, with implications for nursing practice and family health programs
