Humanitarian Synergy: Integrated Health, Psychosocial, and Logistics Service Program for Post-Disaster Survivors in Sumatra

Indonesia is highly vulnerable to hydrometeorological disasters, with floods being the most prevalent hazard and showing an increasing trend. In November 2025, severe flash floods struck Sumatra, particularly Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra, affecting 53 districts/cities, resulting in more than 1,200 deaths and displacing 4,567 households. However, integrated community service programs combining healthcare services, psychosocial support, and logistics distribution remain limited. The “Humanitarian Synergy” program aimed to strengthen post-disaster community health resilience through integrated healthcare services and disease screening, community-based psychosocial support, and the distribution of logistics and hygiene packs. The program was implemented using a cross-sectoral collaborative approach involving Universitas Muhammadiyah Surabaya, Pematang Cengal Primary Health Center, Besitang Primary Health Center, local government authorities, and the Muhammadiyah Disaster Management Center (MDMC). Activities were conducted over 14 days (17–30 December 2025) in Langkat Regency and Aceh Tamiang Regency, targeting vulnerable populations. Data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative methods. The results showed that healthcare services reached 428 survivors, predominantly adults (61.2%) and older adults (27.3%), with a majority of females (76.4%). The most common diagnoses were acute respiratory infections (31.7%), followed by dermatoses (9.35%) and myalgia (8.88%). Psychosocial support was delivered through therapeutic play activities, disaster preparedness education for children, group counseling and safe spaces for women, and the provision of supporting facilities for recovery. A total of 150 logistics and hygiene packs were distributed, and two packages of medical equipment were donated to local primary health centers. This community service program demonstrates potential in strengthening post-disaster community health resilience and addressing the holistic needs of survivors, as reflected by the active participation of the community. It is recommended that future community service programs employ standardized quantitative instruments and conduct longitudinal monitoring to evaluate the sustainability of their impact on community health resilience.
