Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

The following guidelines are designed to help authors prepare and submit manuscripts for the Journal of Nutraceuticals and Herbal Medicine (JNHM). Manuscripts must adhere to the structure, formatting, and style requirements outlined below to ensure a smooth and efficient review process.

Your manuscript must be organized into the following sections:

Title and Author Information

  • Title: Type the title of the manuscript in Cambria, 14 pt, Bold. Capitalize the first letter of each word.
  • Author(s): List all authors with full names (e.g., First-Name Last-Name) in Cambria, 12 pt.
  • Affiliation: Include the institution name, department, city, state, country, and email addresses for each author in Cambria, 10 pt.

Abstract

  • Provide a concise summary of the study in 200-250 words.
  • The abstract should clearly state the research problem, methods, key findings, and conclusions.
  • Avoid using abbreviations or citations in the abstract.

Keywords

  • List 3–5 keywords that accurately represent the manuscript’s content.

Introduction

  • Introduce the research topic and provide relevant background information.
  • Include a review of the current state of knowledge in the field and highlight the scientific novelty of the research.
  • Clearly state the research objective or hypothesis.

Methods

  • Describe in detail the methodology used to conduct the study.
  • Ensure that the methods are described in a manner that allows for the study to be replicated.
  • If applicable, include information about data collection, tools, or instruments used in the research.

Results and Discussion

  • Present your results with supporting data (e.g., tables, figures).
  • Discuss the results in relation to previous studies, interpreting their implications and significance.
  • Highlight any limitations or challenges encountered during the research.
  • Ensure clarity and coherence in presenting the findings.

Conclusion

  • Summarize the key findings of the study without repeating the results section.
  • Offer recommendations for future research or practical applications of the findings.

Acknowledgements

  • Acknowledge individuals, organizations, or institutions that contributed to the research but are not listed as authors.
  • Include funding sources or any financial support for the study.

References

  • Use APA 6th Edition formatting for references.
  • Ensure all references cited in the text are listed in the reference section and vice versa.
  • Refer to the following examples for formatting:

Journal Article:
Brennan, M. A., & Israel, G. D. (2008). The power of community services. Community Services Development, 39(1), 82-97.

Book:
McKibbin, B. (2007). Deep economy: The wealth of communities. New York: Times Books.

Chapter in an Edited Book:

Figures and Tables

  • Tables: Should be numbered and captioned above the table. Any notes should be placed below the table.
  • Figures: Should be numbered and captioned below the figure.
  • Ensure that figures are of high resolution (minimum 300 dpi) and clear for publication.
  • Do not exceed 5 combined tables and figures in total.

Formatting Guidelines

  • Font: Use Cambria font for all sections of the manuscript.
    • Title: Cambria, 14 pt, Bold
    • Author Information: Cambria, 12 pt for names, 10 pt for affiliations
    • Main Text: Cambria, 12 pt
  • Line Spacing: Use standard line spacing (avoid condensed spacing).
  • Headings: Use bold headings (Cambria, 12 pt) for each section.
  • Margins: Standard 1-inch margins on all sides.
  • Language: Write in clear, concise, and grammatically correct English.

Competing Interests Statement

  • Authors must disclose any competing interests that could influence the research or its publication.
  • If there are no competing interests, authors should explicitly state:
    • "The authors declare no competing interests."

Final Submission Checklist

Before submitting, ensure your manuscript includes:

  • Title and author information
  • Abstract and keywords
  • All sections (Introduction, Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusion, Acknowledgements)
  • References in APA 6th Edition format
  • Tables and figures, each properly captioned and referenced
  • A competing interests statement
  • Proofreading for clarity, grammar, and formatting
