Manifestasi Oral Sindrom Sjorgen

Abstract

Sjorgen's syndrome is an autoimmune disorder characterized by lymphocyte infiltration in the exocrine glands, especially the salivary and lacrimal glands with gradual loss of function and causing decreased oral hygiene, causing several conditions such as xerostomia, oral candidiasis, dental caries, difficulty swallowing, and taste disorders. Decreased salivary flow in patients with Sjorgen's syndrome causes an imbalance in the oral microflora and has the potential to increase the risk of opportunistic infections, one of which is oral candidiasis. Objective: To report a case of oral manifestations due to Sjorgen's syndrome. Case report: A 28-year-old female patient came to the Dental and Oral Hospital complaining of white spots on the tongue accompanied by dry mouth conditions since 1 year ago. Complaints of white spots can be cleaned using tissue or a toothbrush, but reappear after some time, the white spots are not painful, the complaint has not been treated. The results of the intra-oral examination showed that the patient's OHI was 1 (good category). The patient had undergone a laboratory examination showing positive Sjorgen's syndrome. Management: DHE that the complaint of white spots is an oral manifestation of Sjorgen's syndrome, the white spots are caused by decreased saliva flow causing a dry mouth condition that becomes a place for candida to grow. Patient is given education to maintain good oral hygiene, drink lots of water to maintain the moisture of the oral cavity, avoid foods containing acid and sugar, and brush teeth at least 2x a day using fluoride toothpaste.
