  • Managing Environmental Quality and Climate Risks in Tropical Areas: Evidence from Spatial and Ecosystem-Based Studies

    Tropical regions are among the most vulnerable areas to the impacts of climate change due to their complex interactions between environmental systems, human activities, and rapid socio-spatial transformations. Issues such as declining environmental quality, increasing climate-related risks, and uneven access to infrastructure and ecosystem services demand integrated and evidence-based management approaches.

    This journal issue presents a collection of empirical studies that explore environmental quality and climate risk management in tropical areas through spatial analysis and ecosystem-based perspectives. The articles highlight how biophysical processes, such as nutrient dynamics in aquatic environments and the role of aquatic vegetation in improving water quality along interact with human systems, including settlement patterns, local governance structures, and the distribution of public facilities.
